In August 2021, Hindu Religion and Charitable Endowments Minister PK Sekar Babu inaugurated 18 Montessori classrooms in 11 Chennai schools. The Greater Chennai Corporation, in collaboration with the Dawn Montessori Education Foundation, established these classrooms. The classrooms are located in the Kolathur and Anna Nagar assembly constituencies. There are eight Montessori classrooms in five schools under the Kolathur constituency and ten Montessori classrooms in six schools under the Anna Nagar constituency. The classrooms will support educating students aged 2 to 6 years old.
